STRANGE CHANGES

Print Design

To show off Mohawk’s Loop collection of fine recycled papers, Strange Changes: Evolution With A Twist presents a unique and engaging story told from the perspective of a biologist named David Atton, who decided to write a journal after being unexpectedly plunged into another dimension. While this new dimension, Dimension 36233x, closely resembles Earth, it presents several unusual changes to its flora and fauna: as if evolution occurred slightly differently. The separation of continents is awry, people keep dolphin-dogs as pets, and tiny dragon-like critters steal your lunch. Mohawk “edited and revised” the imaginary journal, printing it on the Loop collection to show the versatility of the papers. Fold-out sections and removable pieces encourage viewers to tangibly interact with the book, and varnished sections help exemplify the different possibilities for the papers. This project also presented the opportunity to embrace and further illustration skills, making it extra authentic, fun, and personal.
